neurologic critical care

A well-rounded intensivist is expected to be able to help out his colleagues with critically ill patients, and this is especially true in the field of neurocritical care. Patients with acute stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, status epilepticus, and other neurologic and neurosurgical conditions are admitted to the MICU. Our team is responsible for the medical care of these patients, and you are expected to work closely with the neurologists and neurosurgeons. The links to the right will help you understand some of the specifics of neurocritical care, including some peculiarities that you won’t see elsewhere in your training.
